We are back from our Southeast Asian adventure! After pretty much traveling for the last 4 weeks and one whole month without a blog post we are here to atone and invite you to learn a little more about what we've been up to for the past few weeks.
It's hard to believe that it's been one year since our wedding! To celebrate our anniversary (and escape the oppressive heat and boredom of Ramadan) we decided to capitalize on the summer doldrums in Dubai and make for Southeast Asia with a big itinerary in hand! After 17 days, 13 flights, 10 cities, and 4 countries we came back with many fantastic memories and even more experiences. Types of currency used: Thai baht, Vietnamese dong, Laos kip, and the Cambodian riel. Thai, Vietnamese, Lao and Khmer and English were the languages of the trip. And the best metric of all: over 5,000 pictures...
The route was:
1. Koh Samui, Thailand
2. Sai Gon (Ho Chi Mihn City), Vietnam
3. Me Kong River Delta, Vietnam
4. Siem Reap, Cambodia
5. Luang Prabang, Laos
6. Ha Noi, Vietnam
7. Ha Long Bay, Vietnam
8. Hue, Vietnam
9. Hoi An, Vietnam
10. Nha Trang, Vietnam
Allons-y! First stop Koh Samui. The name of the game in Koh Samui is rest and relaxation. Whereas I wanted to plunge directly into the sights and sounds of crowded Saigon, Matt suggested a more tempered approach in which we actually tried to sit still for 36 hours before we hit the trail. Thank goodness he did - not only was it fantastically beautiful but it was pretty much the only time for the next 15 days that we were able to wake up past 7:00am and blissfully had nothing to do. The Six Senses Hideaway was a slice of heaven on earth!
The second floor of our bungalow - glass on all four sides!
Our own pool!
That's what I call lunch...
This is what happens when Matt loses his balance during a self-timed shot!
A boy and his coconut. It only took 20 minutes to open...you know you've left the outside world behind when this is your entertainment for the afternoon!
Rocking a lotus pose - check out the optical illusion of the infinity pool.
More fun with the infinity pool. I mistakenly dipped my toe in the water before this shot and we had to wait 30 minutes for the ripples to disappear!
An early anniversary cake at the Dining on the Rocks experience - there was enough for dessert and breakfast!
Sunrise. The view from our bed!
Relaxed? I hope so, because the next 8 cities are going to do everything they can to exhaust you! Next stop: Sai Gon and the Me Kong.

Thank you - I actually do feel more relaxed now. Maybe that's because I was just sitting here while you where traveling all over SE Asia.
Whew - it'll probably take until your next anniversary just to look at the photos. 'Hope someday you have a home big enough to display them all (I've never done a whole-house photo collage).
