In case we haven't made it clear, there is pretty much a reason to celebrate and party every weekend in Dubai. Whether it be someone's birthday, a new hotel opening, Australian and New Zealand troops seeing action in WWI, or in the case this past weekend - Nutella. Indeed, the beloved "saturated fat surprise" spread, was hosting a huge beach party at the Al Qasr hotel in the Madinat. I'm not really sure what the purpose of the event was. It seems that Nutella is pretty popular here and I am not sure if by throwing a beach party more people were going to start consuming the spreadable dessert, but our group was happy to go check out the action. Turns out we had to pull a few strings to get us on to the list, as it was an invite-only high profile private party. (We didn't know Nutella had such high standards!)
We walked into a veritable Nutella wonderland with several stations running Nutella foundations to dip fruit and cake in, cakes, pies and puddings all made with Nutella, and a fresh waffle making station where you smeared the yummy stuff on to freshly made waffles. I decided to partake in the latter, which was delicious. It was the closest I could get to the crepes with Nutella that I became addicted to in Paris. Yummy!
